Akos Buzsaky Addresses Safety Concerns After Missing Reports
Akos Buzsaky has moved to calm fears over his safety after reports in Hungary claimed the former QPR midfielder had been missing for more than a week.
The 44-year-old, a popular figure from his days at Loftus Road, surfaced on social media on Friday to confirm he was safe and to thank supporters for their concern. His message came after Hungarian outlets reported that police were searching for him.
In a post on Facebook, later shared by QPR on X, Buzsaky explained that recent upheaval in his personal life had pushed him to step away from his everyday routine.
“Unfortunately, in the last few months, there have been serious changes in my life that have tested me,” he wrote. “There came a moment when I felt I had to break away from these daily routines.”
That decision sparked alarm. His mother, worried by his absence, contacted the police after what Buzsaky described as a “misunderstanding”.
Once he realised the scale of the situation, he said he immediately cut short his retreat and got in touch with the authorities to confirm he was safe.
He used the same message to address fans and former colleagues who had followed the story with growing anxiety, adding: “Thank you very much for all the concern and thoughts you have shown me. I wish everyone a nice day, and it felt really good to receive so much love!”
For many QPR supporters, the name Akos Buzsaky still carries a sharp memory of a gifted playmaker who lit up Loftus Road. The Hungarian joined Rangers on loan from Plymouth in 2007 before making the move permanent, and spent five seasons in west London.
Across his time in English football with Plymouth, Portsmouth, QPR and Barnsley, Buzsaky scored 33 goals in 243 appearances, his left foot often providing the kind of moments that lodge themselves into club folklore.
This week, though, the concern was not about form, fitness or contracts. It was simply about whether he was safe. Now, with his message of reassurance delivered, the story around Buzsaky shifts from a missing-person alert back to what it always was for those who watched him play: the enduring impact of a talent who left his mark on English football.
