Arda Güler's Rise at Real Madrid: A Long-Term Commitment

Arda Güler’s Real Madrid rise is about to be written into the club’s long-term future.

After Spanish outlet AS revealed on Thursday that talks were moving in the right direction, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano went a step further only hours later: Real Madrid have fully agreed all details of a new contract with the 21-year-old’s camp.

The deal will run at least until 2031. Romano even reports an agreement through 2032, a staggering commitment that would place Güler among the longest-secured players at the Bernabéu. Only summer arrival Yan Diomande, signed for a hefty €125 million and tied down until 2033, would be contracted for longer.

For Güler, the imminent signature is more than a reward. It is confirmation that he now belongs to the club’s inner circle of untouchables.

He arrived from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023 on a contract initially set to expire in 2029. Back then, Real Madrid paid €28 million to prise him away from Istanbul. That figure already feels like a bargain filed under “masterstroke”.

Today, his market value stands at around €90 million. No Turkish footballer is rated higher. The numbers tell the story: Madrid’s early bet has multiplied several times over.

The club’s hierarchy is ready to make his status official on the payslip as well. Güler’s previous salary, reportedly around €5 million per year, is expected to jump significantly in line with his new standing in the squad. A prospect, not a promise, now turning into a cornerstone.

The transformation has happened on the pitch, not in the boardroom.

Last season, Güler forced his way into the conversation with steady, tangible output. Across 51 competitive appearances, he produced 20 goal involvements, gradually shaking off the “talent for tomorrow” tag and demanding starts in the here and now. Each run of games seemed to sharpen his decision-making, each big night another step towards trust.

The coaching change this summer has not slowed him. It has accelerated him.

Under new head coach Jose Mourinho, Güler has underlined his case with ruthless consistency. He has started three of Real Madrid’s first four league matches, and in each of those starts he delivered a goal and an assist. Same script, different opponents, same conclusion: leave him out at your peril.

Only a suspension, carried over from a red card in last season’s Champions League, kept him out of the 2-1 win over Inter Milan in Europe. He did not play, but his absence felt like a talking point in itself — a sign of how quickly he has become a reference in Mourinho’s attacking plans.

From promising signing to indispensable creator, from 2029 to potentially 2032: Arda Güler’s trajectory is now aligned with Real Madrid’s next era. The club has decided he is not just part of the project.

He is one of the pillars it will be built on.
