Bournemouth's Europa League Fixtures Against AC Milan and Real Sociedad
Bournemouth handed glamour Europa League dates with AC Milan and Real Sociedad
Marco Rose now knows exactly what awaits his Bournemouth side in Europe – and it’s anything but a gentle introduction.
The Cherries have been handed a compelling, varied Europa League league-phase schedule, headlined by a home clash with seven-time European champions AC Milan and a trip to Spain to face Real Sociedad.
This is the new-look 36-club league format in full view. Four seeding pots, based on Uefa performance over the past five years. Two opponents drawn from each pot. No more than two clubs from the same country. No domestic duels. Simple on paper, far more demanding on the pitch.
For Bournemouth, the draw delivers a mix of glamour, awkward journeys and potential pitfalls.
They will host AC Milan at the Vitality Stadium, a fixture that instantly jumps off the page, and travel to San Sebastián to meet Real Sociedad. Both represent the heavyweight assignments from the upper pots, the kind of nights that test a club’s European ambitions and announce them on a wider stage.
Around those marquee ties sits a schedule that offers little respite. Viktoria Plzen come to Dorset, a club with deep experience in European group campaigns. Bournemouth must also travel to Sparta Prague, a venue renowned for hostile atmospheres and awkward evenings for visiting sides.
Sturm Graz head to the south coast as another well-drilled, resilient opponent, while Celta Vigo await in Spain, adding a second demanding away trip on Iberian soil. Hapoel Beer Sheva’s visit brings a different kind of challenge, with their physical edge and competitive European pedigree, and a long journey to Norway to face Lillestrom completes the eight-game slate.
The order of those fixtures will be confirmed by Uefa in due course, but the calendar is already set.
League Phase Dates:
- Matchday 1: 16/17 September 2026
- Matchday 2: 15 October 2026
- Matchday 3: 22 October 2026
- Matchday 4: 5 November 2026
- Matchday 5: 26 November 2026
- Matchday 6: 10 December 2026
- Matchday 7: 21 January 2027
- Matchday 8: 28 January 2027
From there, the competition sharpens. The knockout phase play-offs fall on 18 and 25 February 2027, followed by the round of 16 on 11 and 18 March. Quarter-finals are set for 8 and 15 April, with semi-finals on 29 April and 6 May.
The final waits on 26 May 2027 in Frankfurt.
For Bournemouth, the path is clear. The question now is whether Rose’s side can turn a tantalising draw into a deep run on a stage the club has long wanted to call home.
