Franco Mastantuono's Stunning Hat-Trick on Fiorentina Debut

On a damp night in Venice, a teenager on loan from Real Madrid walked into Serie A and behaved as if the league had been waiting for him.

Franco Mastantuono’s Fiorentina debut produced three goals, a comeback, and the kind of shock that ripples far beyond a single matchday. By the time he left the pitch in the 88th minute, the scoreboard read Venezia 2–4 Fiorentina and his name was stamped all over it.

A game turned on its head in 96 seconds

Venezia struck first and had the lead, the home crowd sensing an upset and Fiorentina still trying to find their rhythm. Mastantuono was already involved, already tidy, already dangerous between the lines, but what followed in the space of a minute and 36 seconds changed everything.

In the 29th minute, he drifted into space on the right side of the Fiorentina attack, collected the ball, opened his body and whipped a left-footed strike from outside the box. The Venezia goalkeeper saw it late and could do nothing. Level.

Barely time to reset.

Again Fiorentina worked it to that same channel. Again Mastantuono found room. Again he trusted that left foot from distance. The shot, similar in shape and ruthlessness, flew past the goalkeeper. Two near-identical goals, two punches from the edge of the area, and a stunned stadium watching a 1–0 lead flip to 1–2 almost before the scoreboard could catch up.

The comeback belonged to Fiorentina. The moment belonged to Mastantuono.

A debut to remember

From there, Fiorentina grew in authority, leaning on their new forward’s confidence and movement. Venezia chased, stretched, and left more gaps, and the visitors punished them to extend the lead to 1–3.

Mastantuono, though, still had one more scene to play.

In the 84th minute, with Venezia pushing and spaces opening, he slipped into the box and produced his most delicate work of the night. A sharp individual move inside the six-yard area took him past the goalkeeper, composure intact, and he rolled in Fiorentina’s fourth to make it 1–4 at that stage. Not a long-range rocket this time, but the cool finish of a player who already felt at home.

Only then did he get his curtain call. Substituted in the 88th minute, he walked off having delivered a hat-trick on his Serie A debut for Fiorentina, every goal a different snapshot of a forward brimming with conviction.

Venezia pulled another goal back to make it 2–4, but the result and the story were already written. On matchday four of the Serie A season, a loan signing from Real Madrid turned a routine fixture in Venice into a statement performance.

Fiorentina knew they were getting talent. Now the league does too.
