Giacomo Raspadori Withdraws from Italy Squad Ahead of Nations League Clash with France

Giacomo Raspadori will not be available for Italy’s upcoming UEFA Nations League games against France and Turkiye. The Atalanta forward has pulled out of the squad after medical checks confirmed he cannot participate.

Early Exit from National Team Camp

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced on Tuesday evening that Raspadori is returning to his club following a series of examinations by the team’s medical staff. These tests revealed that he is not physically fit to take part in the intense fixtures scheduled over the next week, forcing him to leave the squad prematurely.

During Italy’s recent 4-1 victory over Turkiye in the Nations League, Raspadori had to leave at halftime due to injury. This added to Italy's fitness worries, already heightened by Nicolo Zaniolo’s earlier withdrawal from the squad before that match.

Official Statement from FIGC

The federation clarified: "Giacomo Raspadori was given complete rest. After medical evaluations confirmed his unavailability for the next matches, he will return to his club."

Impact on Italy's Preparations at Coverciano

Despite the setback, the team's atmosphere remains optimistic following their convincing win in Bursa. The squad returned to Coverciano to prepare for the challenging match against France at Stade de France this Friday, followed by a home game against Turkiye in Bologna on October 5.

Coach Roberto Mancini has adjusted training sessions accordingly, separating players who played heavily in the previous match from those who didn’t travel to Turkiye. While the starters focused on recovery, others took part in tactical drills at Fiorentina’s Viola Park, including specific attack versus defense exercises. This approach aims to keep the squad fresh despite missing one key attacker.

Pressure on Italy’s Attack Line

Raspadori’s absence arrives at a time when Italy’s attacking efficiency is under scrutiny. Although the four-goal display against Turkiye eased some concerns, losing a player noted for his movement and skill poses challenges. Mancini now faces the decision to either call up a replacement or trust the depth within his current roster.
