Harry Kane Shatters Bundesliga Record with 101 Goals
Harry Kane doesn’t just chase records. He rips them up.
On a ruthless afternoon for Bayern Munich, the England captain became the fastest player ever to reach 100 Bundesliga goals, smashing a mark that had stood untouched for 49 years, as Union Berlin were swept aside 7-0.
A 49-year record torn apart
Dieter Müller had owned this corner of Bundesliga history since 1977. The Cologne striker needed 129 games to get to three figures. It was a serious benchmark, the kind that tends to live comfortably in the record books for decades.
Kane got there in 98.
Since walking into Bavaria in 2023, he has treated the league like a personal shooting gallery. Before this weekend he was averaging a goal every 78.5 minutes in the Bundesliga. The numbers are absurd: 152 goals in 154 appearances in all competitions for Bayern, 61 of those in just 51 games last season. This is not form. This is a habit.
The record-breaking moment itself was cold and clinical. Bayern won a penalty in the 39th minute, and everyone in the stadium knew what was coming. Kane stepped up, thumped it home, and history moved aside.
He didn’t stop there. Early in the second half, he ghosted into the box and met a Michael Olise cross with a firm header, adding his 101st Bundesliga goal and pushing Bayern to the top of the table before the rest of the weekend’s fixtures could even begin to answer.
Kane at the centre of a Bayern storm
On any other day, Olise would have owned the headlines. His first hat-trick for Bayern, full of craft and confidence, announced him as another devastating weapon in an attack already overloaded with them. Jamal Musiala added a goal of such quality it could have settled a tight title decider, never mind a one-sided demolition.
Instead, they became part of Kane’s supporting cast.
The synergy is obvious. With Olise drifting between lines, Luis Díaz stretching defences, and Musiala slaloming through spaces that barely exist, Kane operates in a constant storm of service. He doesn’t need ten chances. He rarely needs more than one.
After the final whistle, he allowed himself a moment to acknowledge the scale of what he had done.
“I’m very proud to have now scored 100 and 101 Bundesliga goals. I haven’t been around that long. I’ve loved every second of it,” he told Sky Germany, before turning the spotlight away from himself and back onto the dressing room around him.
“With Michael, Lucho [Luis Díaz] and Jamal I naturally get chances and today was no exception. So I just want to thank the team, the club, the coach, and the staff – everyone who has helped me achieve this. Let’s keep going like this. Scoring more goals in games is obviously a big step. Of course, there have been many important goals among them. I can only say that I’m enjoying every minute of it. Just like today.”
A striker in his prime, a club built for records
This is what Bayern bought: not just a finisher, but a force of certainty in front of goal. The numbers now belong in the same breath as the Bundesliga’s great scorers, yet Kane has compressed that output into an almost unreal timeframe.
Union Berlin were simply the latest victims. Overrun, outgunned, and powerless to stem the flow once Bayern found their rhythm, they were left chasing shadows as the champions-elect flexed every attacking muscle.
For Kane, this felt less like a destination and more like a checkpoint. One record gone. Many more in view. The question now is not whether he will climb further up the Bundesliga’s all-time lists.
It’s how far he intends to go.
