Juventus Sign Nick Woltemade on Loan from Newcastle

Juventus have struck a deal to sign Newcastle United forward Nick Woltemade on a season-long loan, moving quickly to reshape their attack in the final days of the window.

The 24-year-old, who joined Newcastle from Stuttgart in August 2025, is expected in Turin for a medical after the clubs agreed a £3.5m fee. The agreement is a straight loan: no option, no obligation, no strings beyond this season.

For Juventus, it is a calculated move. They have been scouring the market for a forward with Jonathan David poised to join Atletico Madrid on loan. Talks were held with Manchester United over Joshua Zirkzee after his switch to Fiorentina collapsed, but the numbers never quite aligned. United wanted an obligation-to-buy clause attached. Juventus did not.

Woltemade fits the gap. And he fits the budget.

His Newcastle story never really had time to settle. The club’s £69m record signing arrived as a headline act but has started only one of new manager Matthias Jaissle’s first three games. On Saturday, he came off the bench at Tottenham Hotspur and made a point, sliding in to set up Yoane Wissa’s goal in a 2-0 away win. Impact, not security.

Behind the scenes, the pieces were already moving. Newcastle’s pursuit of Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo signalled a shift. Once the 22-year-old flew into Tyneside on Monday evening to finalise a move worth up to £55m, the path cleared for Woltemade to go.

For Newcastle, it is a rebalancing of resources around a new attacking focal point. For Juventus, it is an opportunistic grab: a tall, technical forward entering his prime, available without a long-term financial commitment.

The pressure of the deadline has done the rest. Woltemade now swaps the Premier League for Serie A, St James’ Park for the Allianz Stadium, and a supporting role for the chance to lead a new-look Juventus front line.
