Lamine Yamal has expressed that Barcelona are not content with just a strong start this season. The team aims higher, eyeing major trophies as well. The Blaugrana have quickly become one of the standout teams, and Yamal believes their squad combines talent and unity to challenge for top honors.
The Role of Luck and Experience in Europe
Speaking to On Sport (via Mundo Deportivo), Yamal pointed out the fine margins in the Champions League, where one slip can end a campaign. He emphasized that luck plays a significant part alongside experience, which builds over time.
"It all comes down to fate. The Champions League isn’t decided in a single match; you can play badly and lose the title. So you need luck, along with experience, and these things build up year after year," he explained.
Barcelona can control their performance but knockout rounds often hinge on small moments, injuries, finishing, and handling pressure. Yet, this reality doesn’t dampen Yamal’s ambition.
"I hope luck is on our side this year. We’re playing to win the title; we’re not here just for a stroll. We want to win and bring the trophy back to Barcelona, and God willing, we’ll achieve victory this year."
Diverse Strengths of Raphinha and Lewandowski
When asked to compare Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, Yamal avoided picking sides. Instead, he highlighted how each player’s unique skills enrich the team.
"I don’t think it’s a question of better or worse. The team adapts to different players, and each player has different strengths. Robert, for example, stands out for his ability to finish attacking moves, whilst Raphinha is a great passer. Each has their own strengths and skills, and every player stands out for what they do."
Team Chemistry Fuels Strong Start
Yamal also spoke highly of the squad’s progress, noting how new signings have integrated well and how the bond among established players has grown. This mix has contributed to their positive early season form.
"We’re in great form at the moment and we’re keen to keep playing entertaining and exciting football. I think there’s been a step up in standard, performance and quality, both because of the new players who have settled in well and because of the chemistry between the established players, which is growing stronger by the day."
He finished by emphasizing the shared mindset driving the team forward.
"We all play with the same mindset – a winning mindset – and we’ll always do what we believe is best for the team. We’re one big family within the squad, and our aim is always to win."
