Millwall Set £15m Price for Femi Azeez as Brighton Pursues Transfer
Millwall have placed a £15m price tag on Femi Azeez as Brighton push to land one of the Championship’s standout wingers before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
The south-coast club, whose interest first surfaced via BBC Sport, have already tested Millwall’s resolve twice. Their bids, just over £10m, underline how serious they are. They also underline the gap. Brighton remain about £5m short of what Millwall want.
For now, that gap is the only thing stopping Azeez from stepping into the Premier League.
Millwall hold their line
Millwall’s stance is clear. They are willing to let Azeez go, but only on their terms. Signed from Reading in 2024 for around £1m, the Nigeria international has developed rapidly in south London and still has two years left on his contract. From a business point of view, this is their moment to cash in properly.
On the pitch, he earned that valuation. Azeez hit 11 goals and 11 assists in 35 league games last season, a direct and relentless threat from wide areas. His performances earned him a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Year, the kind of recognition that inevitably drags Premier League scouts into the stands.
That level of output at 24, with room to grow, explains why Millwall are refusing to blink.
Azeez waits on his Premier League chance
Azeez is understood to be keen on the move to the Amex Stadium. The attraction is obvious: a Premier League platform, Brighton’s reputation for developing attacking talent, and a club that has turned clever recruitment into a model others try to copy.
His recent absence from Millwall’s last three matches only adds to the sense that everyone knows where this is heading, provided the numbers line up. Officially, Millwall are protecting an asset. Unofficially, it feels like a player being wrapped in cotton wool while negotiations play out.
Championship rivals Wrexham are also believed to have shown interest. Ambitious, well-backed, and climbing fast, they offer a different sort of project. But Azeez’s priority is the Premier League. That puts Brighton firmly at the front of the queue.
Deadline pressure
Brighton see Azeez as one of their top targets going into the final days of the window. Their recruitment team rarely panics, rarely overpays, and usually walks away if the numbers don’t fit their model.
This one is testing that resolve.
Millwall know they hold a player the Premier League wants. Brighton know they are close, but not close enough. The clock is ticking, the gap is clear, and the question is simple: who moves first, and how far?
By Tuesday night, the answer will say plenty about both clubs’ ambitions.
