Manchester United's Patrick Dorgu Withdraws from Denmark Squad Due to Injury, Says Coach Brian Riemer

Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu has pulled out of the Denmark national team due to injury, confirmed by head coach Brian Riemer. The setback leaves Riemer dealing with an increasingly difficult selection challenge as his squad faces multiple absences.

Denmark's Growing Injury Woes

Denmark is currently struggling with a series of injuries during this international window, complicating Riemer's team plans. Dorgu was forced to leave the camp on Sunday night after sustaining an injury in their 2-0 Nations League win against Wales. This adds to a list of unavailable players including notable names like Andreas Christensen, Alexander Bah, Albert Gronbaek, and Kasper Dolberg, all sidelined since the squad was first announced.

"We're sending him home now; he's out and won't be ready for next week. Further examinations will determine how long he will be sidelined," Riemer told Bold.

Impact on Denmark's Tactical Setup

Dorgu's departure hits Denmark's tactical options hard, especially on the left flank where his versatility had been crucial. Riemer now faces a gap in wide positions and admits the team is showing signs of fatigue due to the heavy burden on remaining fit players.

"This is a tough situation halfway through the international period. I've never seen anything like it. Seven or eight players who would normally be in a 23-man squad are missing—they've either gone home or weren't called up. Now Dorgu is out too. It's really frustrating," Riemer said on TV2.

Looking for Reinforcements

To address the crisis, Riemer plans to bring in replacements to strengthen his wing options. He is considering several players, including both experienced internationals and promising talents playing abroad who have been performing well recently. The coach wants players who can quickly adapt and handle the pressure of top-level international matches.

"It could be Anders Dreyer, Andreas Skov Olsen, who has started well in Turkey, or one of the younger players," Riemer shared with Bold.

Rasmus Hojlund Reacts to Dorgu's Injury

The news also hit striker Rasmus Hojlund hard. He expressed sympathy for Dorgu, recognizing his importance to the squad and the disappointment of potentially losing him long term.

"I think it's a shame. He is a big profile, also for my former club. If he's out for a long time, it's obviously a big blow," Hojlund told TV2.
