Pedro Neto Commends Portugal’s Defensive Strength in UEFA Nations League Victory Over Norway

Pedro Neto celebrated Portugal’s defensive toughness after their 2-1 win over Norway in the UEFA Nations League. Goals from Joao Felix and Goncalo Ramos secured a crucial victory on the road, pushing Portugal three points ahead at the top of Group A4.

The match took place at Ullevaal Stadium, where Portugal showed strong form under coach Jorge Jesus. This marked their second straight win under his guidance, strengthening their position as group leaders.

Neto Highlights Team's Tactical Maturity and Resilience

The 26-year-old winger praised his team’s collective defensive effort, especially given the physical demands imposed by Norway. Neto emphasized that staying focused from start to finish was key to withstanding Norway’s intense pressure.

Speaking to Sport TV, Neto described the match as very challenging due to Norway’s high pressing and quality players. He said, "They pressed very high up the pitch with great intensity and we did well. At times, they managed to take control a little more - perhaps towards the end of the first half - but we were resilient."

Quick Reaction After Haaland Equaliser Showcases Mental Strength

The turning point came in the second half when Erling Haaland equalized for Norway. Portugal responded swiftly, with Goncalo Ramos scoring just three minutes later to restore the lead. Neto sees this quick comeback as a prime example of how the team handles setbacks.

"It’s one of the best ways to react to [conceding], Goncalo Ramos' goal came straight after that. The team, once again, managed to stay in the game and defended well," Neto explained.

He added, "We were very solid defensively. Perhaps, at some point, we could have controlled the game a little more when we had the ball, but that’s part of it. It’s not easy to come here and control a game against a team playing with such intensity. Both defensively and offensively, we put in a good performance."

Looking Ahead to Denmark Clash

Portugal now aims to keep their unbeaten run in Group A4 as they prepare to face Denmark in their final fixture of this international window. Securing another positive result would strengthen their hold on the top spot. Meanwhile, Norway hopes to recover quickly from this narrow defeat as they head to Wales later this week.
