Spinazzola Injury Adds to Napoli’s Concerns Before Fiorentina Clash
Napoli’s fragile momentum has taken another hit. Leonardo Spinazzola has joined a growing injury list and will miss Sunday’s away clash with Fiorentina, stripping the Partenopei of yet more experience on the flanks just as they were trying to steady the season.
The club confirmed on Friday that the full-back did not train with the rest of the squad after suffering a mild strain in the hamstring of his right thigh. Medical staff have ruled him out of the trip to Florence, where Napoli kick off at 12:30 CET (11:30 BST).
For a player whose game relies on acceleration and repeated sprints down the left, even a “mild” hamstring issue is enough to force caution. Napoli can’t afford to lose him for longer.
Reports from Il Mattino and Sky aligned with the club’s note, underlining that the Italy international will not be available at the weekend. It’s another unwelcome headache for the coaching staff as they try to build on last weekend’s narrow but vital 1-0 win over Bologna at the Stadio Maradona, a result that snapped a three-match losing run in all competitions.
Anguissa still apart, absentees pile up
The Spinazzola news is only part of the story. Frank Zambo Anguissa continues to work away from the group, training on an individual programme. With the Fiorentina match approaching quickly, his chances of being passed fit look slim.
He is not alone on the sidelines. Alessandro Buongiorno, Luca Marianucci, Scott McTominay, Giovane, Alex Meret and Alisson Santos have all been ruled out of the journey to Florence, leaving the squad stretched across several key areas.
Defence is patched up, midfield is missing muscle and control, and even the goalkeeping department is hit. Rotation options shrink, tactical flexibility narrows, and the bench suddenly looks a lot lighter.
Napoli arrive at the Artemio Franchi with a win in their pocket but a squad under strain. The question now is simple: can this depleted group turn one step forward into the start of a genuine revival, or will the injuries drag them straight back into trouble?
