Flavio Cobolli Shares Insights on Practice Session with Jannik Sinner Ahead of Star's Comeback
Jannik Sinner seems close to making his comeback in tennis. Reports confirm he will compete at the China Open in Beijing next week, where he is the reigning champion. The Italian star has been sidelined by a knee injury since his victory over Alexander Zverev at the 2026 Wimbledon final.
Despite his time away from the court, Sinner remains number one in the ATP rankings. However, his lead is under pressure from Zverev, who recently won the US Open and sits less than 2,000 points behind. Should results shift, Zverev could overtake him before the season ends.
Training Session with Flavio Cobolli
Sinner has been prepping for his return in Monte Carlo, where he trained with fellow Italian Flavio Cobolli. Cobolli, the Roland Garros runner-up, is currently in London to represent Team Europe at the Laver Cup.
Before the event, Cobolli spoke about his practice time with Sinner during an interview with Super Tennis TV. "We joked around a lot," the 24-year-old said, referring to his best season yet in 2026. "It was great to be back on the court with him. Whenever we get time together, I try to make the most of it. He teaches me so much; I’m always eager to train alongside him."
Cobolli’s Role at the Laver Cup
This marks Cobolli's third consecutive Laver Cup appearance, following his debut in 2024 when Team Europe prevented Team World from securing a three-peat. Though he won't play on the first day, the event features a notable doubles match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jakub Mensik against Alexander Bublik and Taylor Fritz.
Team Europe is captained by Yannick Noah with Tim Henman as vice captain. For Team World, Andre Agassi serves as captain while Pat Rafter is vice captain.
