Ben Morris Leaves Glamorgan: Young Seamer's Future Ahead

Glamorgan will part company with young seamer Ben Morris at the end of the season, drawing a line under a brief first-team career that always hinted there might be more to come.

The 22-year-old, born in Abergavenny, has been on the fringes of the county side, making a single County Championship appearance and five outings in the One Day Cup. His standout performance came in 2024, when he returned figures of 3-52 against Essex, a spell that suggested he could trouble good batting line-ups at this level.

His most recent first-team appearance came in August 2025, a reminder of how hard it has been for him to nail down a regular place in a crowded Glamorgan seam department.

Morris has also been a key figure in the successful Cardiff UCCE setup and has represented Wales National County, building a reputation in the domestic game as a willing, hard-working quick with more development ahead of him.

"I have enjoyed my time at the club, but I feel I still have a lot to offer in cricket and remain open to new opportunities, while being ready to explore a career away from it," Morris said, leaving the door open both to a fresh start elsewhere in the professional game and to a life beyond it.

His departure makes him the second confirmed exit from Glamorgan this year, following the retirement of 40-year-old stalwart Chris Cooke. One veteran stepping away, one young seamer moving on. For Glamorgan’s dressing room, it marks the start of a quiet changing of the guard – and for Morris, the beginning of a search to prove that those glimpses of promise were only the start.
