Dani Gibson Signs New Deal with Somerset Until 2028

Somerset have locked in one of the pillars of their women’s side, with England all-rounder Dani Gibson signing a new deal that keeps her at the club until the end of the 2028 season.

At 25, Gibson already carries the presence of a senior pro. Eight matches across the last two campaigns for Somerset have yielded 262 runs, including a highest score of 77, but the numbers only tell part of the story. She walks into a dressing room and instantly raises the level.

England know that feeling well. Gibson has featured in six One-Day Internationals and 35 T20Is, scoring 722 runs and chipping in with 21 wickets, the kind of dual threat every side craves in the modern white-ball game.

Somerset head coach Erin Osborne made no attempt to hide the significance of the deal.

“Any opportunity that we have to get Dani back into our environment is always a positive one,” Osborne said. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which you just can't buy.

“We've got a really young group, so any chance they get to spend time around players like Dani and learn from her is a really good one.”

That is the crux of it for Somerset. Gibson is not just a run-scorer or a wicket-taker; she is a standard-setter for a squad still learning what it takes to compete season after season. A long-term commitment like this gives that young core a focal point, someone to chase in training and lean on in tight moments.
