England Stick with Sonny Baker for Edgbaston Finale

England have kept faith with Sonny Baker for the third and final Test against Pakistan at Edgbaston, confirming that Brydon Carse will play no part in the series decider in Birmingham.

Baker, the retained seamer, keeps his place in an attack that has already done enough to seal the series 2-0. England now have the chance to turn a dominant position into a clean sweep when the final Test begins on September 9.

Carse remains out of contention following the incident that led to his arrest last month. The 31-year-old was dropped for the second Test at Lord’s after police briefly handcuffed him outside a nightclub in Derby on August 22. He is still under investigation and stays away from the squad as the situation continues to unfold.

There is one other change: Matthew Fisher has been left out. His omission trims England’s seam options but underlines the selectors’ decision to stick largely with the group that has controlled the series so far.

So the script is clear. England, series already secured, walk into Edgbaston with a chance to finish the job in style. Pakistan arrive knowing this is their last shot at a response.
