Peter Handscomb Reflects on Facing India’s Precise Bowling Attack

Peter Handscomb, currently captaining the Australia A team on their tour of India, shared his thoughts on the challenge presented by Indian bowlers. Known for their pinpoint accuracy and consistency, these bowlers pose a tough test for any batsman.

Though Handscomb had a difficult start in the first unofficial Test against India A at Puducherry, he remains focused not only on immediate performance but also on future opportunities. With over half of his 11 Test matches played against India, Handscomb has gained valuable experience facing some of the world’s best players.

"You’ve got to attack when you get the opportunity to score, but it is tough," Handscomb told TOI before the second Test. "The Indian bowlers are incredibly accurate, consistent and don’t give a lot of bad balls. You’ve got to try and find a way to score off good balls. It can be tough when the ball misbehaves, but that’s the challenge of playing in India."

He emphasized the importance of picking the right moments to go on the offensive rather than just attacking blindly. The precision and discipline of the Indian bowling lineup demand patience and smart shot selection.

Handscomb appreciates the challenge of repeatedly facing such strong opposition, calling it both difficult and rewarding. His time playing against India has shaped his approach, blending caution with aggression when chances arise.
