Rinku Singh to Marry Priya Saroj in Lucknow Ceremony
Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj are set to formalise their relationship with a wedding in Lucknow on December 4, bringing together two rising figures from Uttar Pradesh in sport and politics.
The ceremony will take place at the Ramada Hotel in the state capital, with preparations in full swing on both sides. The guest list is expected to remain intimate, featuring family members, close relatives and a select group of special invitees rather than a sprawling public spectacle.
Rinku, now a familiar name in Indian cricket and a key figure for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, hails from Uttar Pradesh. Priya represents Machhlishahr as a Samajwadi Party MP, adding a political dimension to a story that has largely unfolded away from the limelight.
The couple got engaged in Lucknow on June 8, 2025, at The Centrum Hotel, marking the first public confirmation of a relationship that had quietly taken shape over the previous years.
A modern-day cricket romance
Their story began in the most contemporary of ways: through a social media scroll.
During the Covid years, when the IPL was being staged in Mumbai, Rinku came across Priya’s photograph on a fan page related to voting in her village. The image caught his attention immediately. He found her interesting, but hesitated over whether to reach out.
The turning point came when Priya liked a few of his Instagram photos. That small digital gesture gave Rinku the push he needed. He finally sent her a message, and the conversation quickly gathered pace.
Speaking to The Times of India after their engagement, Rinku described how those early exchanges grew into something more. He said the chats became a regular feature of his routine, even before matches, and that by 2022 he had started to recognise that what began as a simple message had become genuine love.
What started on a fan page evolved into a committed relationship. By June 2025, the pair decided to make it official with their engagement in Lucknow.
From the stands to the spotlight
Priya has not stayed in the background during Rinku’s rise. She has been seen in the stands at his matches, including at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, cheering him on during his outings for Kolkata Knight Riders. Her presence has added a personal subplot to his performances, with cameras occasionally picking her out amid the sea of purple and gold.
Since the engagement, Rinku has spoken openly about their relationship, offering fans a glimpse into how it began and how it has grown alongside his cricketing career.
Now, more than a year after that engagement, the focus shifts away from stadiums and scoreboards to wedding rituals and family gatherings in Lucknow. Rinku is currently not part of India’s squad for the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan, but another date now stands out on his calendar.
December 4 will not bring runs, catches or trophies. It will bring a new chapter, far from the roar of Eden Gardens and much closer to home.
